On a serious note...

So I watched Kathy Griffin: My Life on the D-List yesterday and let me just say that, that bitch made me cry! (FYI: I call her a bitch because 1: she'll cut a bitch and 2: bitch is an honor in the gay world!) ;)

She decided to become an activist in the gay community and went door to door and solicited people on Proposition 8 and got their views and actually changed the mind of some "bigots" to rethink their vote. It was so amazing. She even rallied and walked to California's capitol to protest the passing of Proposition 8. Unfortunately her efforts, along with every GLBTI person's efforts, fell on deaf ears!

Kathy truly wants to turn this around and her efforts truly touched me. There are so many stories that seriously should get out to the world. There was a gay couple who one of the guys is slowly loosing his ability to walk. His company won't give him medical benefits and his "husband's" company won't recognize their civil union. How horrible is that?

You want to know something, I am in college now and I am FORCED to take history. It's not an elective, but a prerequisite. My policy, I didn't care about it from junior high school through high school, I surely don't care about it now. While that sounds harsh, I personally feel that way.

I was once told that the reason we're taught history is to look at the past and learn from it. The way I see it, history has already begun to repeat. African Americans were subjected to racism and fought long and hard to get their rights, revolts were orchestrated, and after many many deaths, freedom was finally granted. The same issues rose up back then that is happening now... the constitution... equal rights... etc. Is it going to take the deaths of many GLBTI people for the US to realize what is right and wrong?

Kathy brought up the whole Matthew Shepard incident and I am very much aware of it. As soon as she mentioned it, I was already in tears. I couldn't believe that the "younger gays" (as Kathy referred to them as) did not know of Matthew and I am so glad that Kathy informed them. I truly think that if everyone today saw that story, they would realize how wrong something like Proposition 8 is.

Granted, I am not a California resident, but I still do care. This shouldn't be just a state-level thing, but a nation-wide decision in favor of same sex marriage. I truly can't believe that this is even an issue, but sadly it is.

Where the heck have I been?

Hi everyone! Happy 4th, Happy summer, Happy life! How has everyone been?

Possibly you could tell, due to my lack of blogging, that I have been INSANELY busy! Between work and school, I haven't had a moment to breathe! I started some summer courses to catch up and get my ass finished with school quicker. They have kept me so busy that I haven't had a moment to even log into my blog!
